The Vikings
For our last day in Stockholm (for this year) we went to the Viking Museum. We learned that pretty much everything we hear about the Vikings in popular culture is wrong. Horned helmets? Not a chance. Two handed swords were … Continue reading
Random Thoughts (in Stockholm)
We took it easy today, with a late start and a pleasant walk to the Moderna Museet – the museum of modern art. Along the way we passed the building where Stockholm syndrome originated. Fun fact – banks in Sweden … Continue reading
Geek Central
The main reason for visiting Stockholm in October was to see Ian, so we’ve been spending a lot of time walking around the city with him. It’s cool out, but mostly sunny and very pleasant. Here is an interesting bit … Continue reading
Stockholm
After a long day and night of travel involving three flights, we arrived in Stockholm, only slightly the worse for wear, and checked into our hotel across from a park. Stockholm is a city with many parks, so it’s always … Continue reading

More Cherry Blossoms
When we were in Budapest the cherry blossoms were at their peak, perhaps even a day or two past peak. The ground was beginning to be covered with “drifts” of fallen petals. A week later, the cherry blossoms in Stockholm … Continue reading

Stockholm Central Station
On the sidewalk, just outside of Stockholm Central Station, we spotted a pair of ducks, calmly sleeping on the sidewalk in a very small puddle of water. I know that Stockholm is a pedestrian friendly city, but this may be … Continue reading
I’m Not Making This Up
We are back home now, but over the next week I want to continue posting a few random observations about our trip. I’ll begin with the Swedish Krona (SEK). Perhaps you’re wondering what the Krona looks like or what denominations … Continue reading
A Walk in the Park
It was another lovely spring day in Stockholm, so we went for a long walk (10 km) along the waterfront and through a few parks, all within the city limits. For the first part of the walk we had water … Continue reading
