Rain

After five days of sunshine, this morning we woke up to light rain.

Given the extended drought in California, the locals were all pretty happy about the rain. All we had planed for the day was wine tasting, so we were okay with the rain as well. Our first stop was Gloria Ferrer. We ordered it with dinner last night, and decided that tasting it at the winery, along with local cheeses and charcuterie, would be a good plan. Lunch in Sonoma.

By now, you will not be surprised to hear that we were on the lookout for flowers in bloom, and they were not hard to find.

To be honest, the rain cuts both ways. On the one hand, it obscures the views, but on the other hand, it adds a sense of mystery to the hills when you can see them.

And I love the rain drops on the flowers.

And something, which I gather has been a rare sight in California lately – running water.

The day ended the way it began, with a gentle rain. So I’ll finish this post the way I started it – with a picture of moss covered trees in the rain.

Okay, not quite the end of the day. We finished with a glass of a Carneros sparkler.

A fitting end to our last full day in Sonoma.
